活动预告 | 回顾与展望:甘维珍女士讲述自己与中国的故事

2019.10.24

About the event

In this talk, Virginia Kamsky will share the story of the more than 40 years she has spent connected to and working in China. Through photos and video clips, Kamsky will help share her experience facilitating relationships and partnerships across borders. She will then offer thoughts to the next group who aims to serve as connectors between their own countries and China. This presentation will be followed by Q&A with the audience.

About the speaker

Virginia A. Kamsky (Ginny) is the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kamsky Associates, Inc. (KAI), a strategic advisory firm with offices in Beijing and New York City. Ginny was one of the first “foreigners” to be granted a Beijing Residency Permit and Green Card in 1978, at the very beginning of China’s economic reform. Founded in 1980, KAI was one of the first approved foreign advisory firms in China. KAI has been responsible for advising on deals in excess of USD $15 billion for its client base, which includes preeminent companies worldwide.

Ginny began her career at the then Chase Manhattan Bank in its global credit-training program. She was the manager of Chase’s credit training program in Tokyo and head of Chase’s credit department in Tokyo.  She served as an officer of Chase as Assistant Treasurer in the International Trade and Commodity Finance division on the grains and metals team.  She was promoted to Second Vice President of Chase and headed Chase’s corporate China division. She was responsible for drafting the first foreign commercial bank loan to China.

Ginny served during the Obama Administration for eight years under a White House appointment as a member of the US Secretary of the Navy Advisory Panel (SNAP), an advisory body which provides the Secretary of the Navy with independent advice and recommendations on critical issues facing the Department of the Navy and the Navy Secretariat under Top Secret Clearance.

Ginny currently sits on the boards of Dana Incorporated and Ingram Micro.  She serves as the Chairman of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee of Dana and is a member of Dana’s Compensation Committee and of Ingram Micro’s Audit Committee.

Ginny is a Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, including its Committee on Corporate Affairs.  She is on the Advisory Board of the US-China Energy & Climate Program at the Columbia University Center on Global Energy Policy and is a member of the Economic Club of New York.

Ginny served as Chairman and CEO of China Institute in America from 2003-2013. China Institute is the oldest not-for-profit U.S. organization focused on advancing a deeper understanding of China.  Under Ginny’s tenure at China Institute, the board was expanded to include prominent Mainland Chinese, the establishment of the US-China Executive Summit, which brings together leading CEO’s from both the US and China, relocation of its headquarters to accommodate a four-fold increase in programming and was granted the honor of serving as a host organization for the President and Premiers of the PRC and other leading high-ranking government and business officials from China.
