Course Description

Values determine who we are (the BEING part). Values-based leadership is when leaders create visions, make decisions, and lead and motivate their organizations/teams by the values truly lived by them and modeled in their everyday behaviors and activities(the DOING part). This one-credit course will focus on examining what and how values help to shape and enhance leadership and will provide opportunities for students to reflect the values that drive them when their decisions would have impact onto multiple stakeholders. How to voice values will also be a leadership testimonial and hence will be an important topic covered by this course. Through lectures, case studies, and class discussions, this course will help students to better understand the important role of values in leadership and be able to stick to and manifest their believes and values when they exercise their leadership in their teams and organizations.

价值观决定我们是谁（BEING 部分）。（基于）价值（的）领导力是领导者根据指导其日常行为（DOING 部分）的价值观进行愿景创建、决策制定和团队/组织领导及激励。这门一学分的课程将重点探讨价值（观）是什么，以及价值（观）如何帮助塑造和增强领导力，并为学生提供学习机会，反思自身的价值观是如何驱动他们做出影响多个利益相关者的决定。如何有效表达价值观也是对领导力的考验，因此将是本课程涵盖的重要主题。通过讲座、案例研究以及课堂讨论和辩论，该课程将帮助学生更好地理解价值观在领导中的重要作用，并在他们在团队和组织中行使领导力时能够坚持并表现出他们的信念和价值观。本课程不需要任何先修课程。
