Course Description

This core module in the Global Affairs cluster explores the critical question of how to enhance international cooperation in the face of multiple transboundary, geopolitical,and planetary crises. The first part of the module examines the complexities involved in governing global challenges. We address major debates relating to the history of global governance, global political leadership, and the reform of global institutions.These introductory sessions provide the frameworks and historical context for addressing global challenges in the contemporary era. In the second part of the module,we look in greater depth at global issues across six pathways: artificial intelligence,regulation, and ethics; climate change and the global environment; arms control and non-proliferation; global public health; global inequality; and the global governance of migration. The module concludes with student-led panels debating the critical intersections across the six pathways.
